The State University of New York Maritime College and the Maritime Industry Museum at Fort Schuyler, proudly announce the Ocean Wind Energy Conference in New York City on Thursday, September 26, 2019.
This conference comes just months after New York Governor Andrew M. Cuomo executed the United States’ largest offshore wind agreement, announcing the winning bidders in the state’s first large-scale comprehensive offshore wind solicitation that will generate a combined 1,700 Megawatts of renewable for the state. Winning bidders include Equinor US Holdings who will be presenting at this event.
The Keynote Speaker of the event will be Dr. Alana Duerr, Director of DNV GL, who will offer insight into the future of Ocean Wind Energy development and sustainability.
“The Maritime Industry Museum and SUNY Maritime College are focusing on the development of clean energy and the creation of maritime jobs in our region,” said Captain Eric Johansson, State University Distinguished Service Professor and Executive Director of the Maritime Industry Museum. “It is estimated that Wind Power Energy support industries will bring over $1.2 billion in new economic activity to New York’s waterfront and beyond.”
This conference intends to offer an overview of Ocean Wind Power Generation technology while focusing on the development of the support infrastructure and skilled workforce needed to install and sustain the wind power generation projects in our region.
