New York-based shipping and logistics company MTS Logistics announced today that it has raised over $100,000 for autism awareness through its annual bike tour charity event. The 13th Annual Bike Tour with MTS for Autism saw its largest fundraising haul ever with six figures raised. The event took place on Saturday, June 10th in New York City.
Following a week full of wildfire smoke in the NYC area, the skies cleared, and bike tour participants were able to enjoy a beautiful day for this great cause. Participants from the shipping, logistics, and transportation industries came together and biked for autism awareness. This year’s turnout was one the company’s best to-date, with everyone from adults to kids joining and biking together.
All proceeds from the annual bike tour charity event were donated to Spectrum Works, a nonprofit organization that promotes workplace inclusiveness by providing job training and employment opportunities to young adults with autism. The past 13 bike tour events have seen over $350,000 cumulatively raised for autism awareness, a momentous feat for the MTS Logistics team and their Corporate Social Responsibility efforts.
Dozens of prominent companies in the business and logistics world came together to support the event with sponsors including Turkish Philanthropy Funds, Turkish Airlines, Orient Star Group, American Dream Entertainment Group, Nickelodeon, Hapag-Lloyd, Portx, Maersk, CGA CGM, and others.
Turkish Airlines donated two (2) round-trip international tickets good for anywhere Turkish Airlines flies, while American Dream, which operates a property in the Meadowlands area in New Jersey, donated two sets of four tickets to the Nickelodeon Universe Theme Park at American Dream NJ. Both items were raffled off as part of the bike tour event.
After leaving the South Street Seaport area early in the day, bikers biked to Tatiana Restaurant in Brooklyn, where they were treated to a healthy lunch and heard from several speakers. Hennessey Kingsley, a student who has benefitted from Spectrum Works’ workplace inclusiveness efforts, gave an inspiring and hopeful speech at lunch, showcasing how the annual event has impacted lives.
Sedat Saka, President of MTS Logistics, was grateful for the amazing turnout and fundraising milestone:
“Thanks again to everyone who joined the MTS Logistics team and our customers, family, and friends for this amazing and successful day. I was proud to see everyone come together for this great cause. This year, my son Ilyas Saka, who recently turned 6, also joined and biked with us, which was very special to me. Hearing Hennessey’s speech really inspired me, and I am so appreciative we have made a lasting difference.
