MarineCo, the Edinburgh-based workboat operator has contracted Damen Shipyards Group once again to build them a Multi Cat 2712. Damen notes the vessel is designed for a multitude of roles including anchor handling, dredger service, supply, towing, hose handling and survey, however the specific job that this vessel will fulfill was not mentioned.
The vessel will join Marineco’s all Damen-designed fleet and will be named Marineco Havanah. She will measure 27.7 meters long, 12.45 meters wide at the beam and draw about 2.85 meters. Twin Caterpillar C32 TTA ACERT engines will turn two shafts and fixed propellers and have a maximum bollard pull of 35 tons. Delivery is planned for April 2015 and is the second contract for this new type in the Damen Multi Cat Series.
