Talisman Energy AS (TENAS), operator of the Varg field, has received consent today from Norway’s Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) to use the 1986-built Maersk Giant jack-up rig to plug and abandon (P&A) 8 wells at their field located 200 kilometers west of Stavanger in 84 meters of water.
TENAS has allocated up to 153 days for the activity which the PSA says will commence in mid-May 2015.

The Varg field, located in the central sector of the North Sea, is currently in production utilizing the Teekay-owned Petrojarl Varg FPSO, which is tied to the Varg A well-head facility via a 1200-meter production and injection pipeline and control umbilical.
