Hijack Call From Ship Off Iran a False Alarm, Security Firm Ambrey Says
A hijack signal sent from a Panama-flagged petroleum products tanker off Iran was a false alarm, British maritime security firm Ambrey said on Wednesday.
The Libyan state-owned shipping line General National Maritime Transport Company (GNMTC) says that one of its tankers, the Anwaar Afriqya, has been hijacked by group of armed rebels and diverted to the port of Tobruk near the border with Egypt, where it is now berthed.
The company says that tanker is carrying a cargo of 23,800 tons of gasoline and has a crew of 22.
