STX France’s Board of Directors has today announced the nomination of Laurent Castaing as its new General Manager in replacement of Jacques Hardelay.
Graduated from the « Ecole Polytechnique » (Polytechnics schools) and the « Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Techniques Avancées » (ENSTA) – Maritime Engineering section (1985), Laurent Castaing has a strong knowledge of shipbuilding industry and of the Saint-Nazaire shipyard where he has started his career. On his path, he has demonstrated both operational and managerial skills as workshop manager (1985-1990) and Deputy General Manager (1998-2004). Laurent Castaing enlarged his experience in the maritime industry by managing the Port of Nantes Saint-Nazaire (2005 – 2008) and then the Grand Port Maritime du Havre as Executive Director (2008- present).
The Board of Directors, which has expressed its gratitude to Jacques Hardelay for his seven years’ strong implication and work, five of them as General Manager, insists that the main task for the new General Manager will be to strengthen the sales & marketing activities of STX France, while improving its productivity to secure the shipyards’ activity level.
“I am deeply happy to come back to a company I know so well: I perfectly aware of its abilities to focus on its targets and to make the necessary change to adapt to the market and to the present challenges. No doubt STX France is already on this way of change and will succeed in this challenge” says Laurent Castaing.
