We’re excited to announce the launch of the newgCaptain Forum! Don’t worry, nothing about the old gCaptain Forum has changed, it has just gotten better! How much better? Well, for a long time we have fielded complaints about all sorts of user issues and bugs, such as login problems, reset password bugs, mobile issues, etc. Well, with any luck, this new software will solve all that… and then some.
Over the last several months we’ve been hard at work migrating the same old gCaptain Forum – all 32,000 threads and 200,000 comments in the past 10 years – to the new, super intuitive, and ultra-sleek newgCaptain Forum. After an exhausting amount of research, the forum software we ended up going with is called Discourse, which we chose because it is fast and lightweight (important for those connecting via slow satellite connections at sea), works better than any other software on both android and ios devices, is hardened against hackers, and is among the simplest software to use.
Very Important: In order to protect your privacy YOU MUST RESET YOUR PASSWORD (or login via Facebook/LinkedIn) before you can start using the new gCaptain Forum. Resetting your password is pretty straight forward, but we have provided comprehensive directions at the bottom of this post.
As always if you have any problems using the new gCaptain Forum please email [email protected] and we’ll get you sorted out as best we can.
Best Regards,
The gCaptain Team
