Do not adjust your screen resolution, this interesting new ship is actually a compact accommodation vessel recently delivered to the Brazilian company GranEnergia.
The new vessel, named “Olympia”, is based on MAC Offshore’s Compact Semi-Submersible (CSS) concept and developed in part by STX Marine (STXM).
In a statement, STXM described the CSS design as “innovative” and “ground breaking”, adding that the successful development and delivery of the Olympia will “change the long term landscape of the Offshore Vessel market”.
Built by Fujian Mawei Shipbuilding in the Fujian Province located in southeast China, the twin-hulled Olympia has an overall length of just 84 meters with a total capacity of 500 people.
The DP-3 Olympia will remain connected to an offshore facility via a telescopic gangway system. Other features include a 12.8 tonne rated helideck, and a 150MT telescopic boom crane.
MAC Offshore has an additional 6 CSS vessels under contract with Fujian Mawei Shipbuilding with deliveries planned over the next 2 years.
