Höegh Autoliners ASA, a leading global provider in the deep-sea car transportation industry, has announced securing a new contract with a major East Asian car manufacturer.
The agreement, extending until the end of 2028, covers the transportation of cars, predominantly electric vehicles (EVs), from Asia to Europe.
Andreas Enger, the CEO of Höegh Autoliners, said his company is happy with selection as the preferred shipping partner by another globally recognized car producer.
“The trade from East Asia to Europe is one of our core trades where we are offering our customers quality transport with high frequency and competitive transit times,” Enger added.
Engers also highlighted the company’s efforts in taking a leading role in the deep-sea car transportation industry in terms of reducing emissions from their business and that of their customers.
“This offering embodies our commitment to delivering unparalleled service while at the same time being a frontrunner for sustainable shipping,” Enger said.
Höegh Autoliners has ordered twelve Aurora-class car carriers. These vessels, with a capacity of 9,100 cars, will be the world’s largest and most eco-friendly. They will also be the first in the pure car and truck carrier (PCTC) segment to be compatible with ammonia and methanol fuels. China Merchants Heavy Industry (Jiangsu) Co. is constructing all 12 of the ships with options for more.
