The DNV-classed Far Solitaire (UT 754 WP) was delivered today from the STX OSV Langsten shipyard to its new owner, Farstad Shipping. Last month, this vessel won the prestigious “Ship of the Year” award at the SMM Hamburg conference.
The vessel is a UT 754 WP design developed by Farstad Shipping in close cooperation with Rolls Royce Marine Ship Technology Offshore. It is especially notable for its IBC Code 2 chemical tanker compliance.
“Far Solitaire is the first PSV developed and built as an IBC Code 2 (chemical tanker) compliant offshore supply vessel, which is the main reason why the jury elected this vessel as Ship of the Year 2012,” the SMM jury said in its ruling. Adding, “The vessel is capable of undertaking all aspects of offshore oilfield services, including transportation of unlimited quantities of noxious liquid substances. During the project development it has been paid strong focus to the impact on the environment the construction and operation of this vessel would cause through its lifespan.”
The vessel will commence a term charter contract with Statoil with a firm period of 3 months and further 3 monthly options.
The long term finance of the vessel is arranged by Eksportkreditt Norge AS in cooperation with DNB Bank ASA, GIEK and Handelsbanken.
