MOSCOW–OAO Gazprom (GAZP.RS) said Greenpeace activists who climbed onto its Prirazlomnaya offshore oil platform in the Arctic early Friday are not affecting work there.
“All work on the platform is being carried out according to plan,” the state-controlled gas giant said in a statement.
Greenpeace earlier said a team of activists climbed the platform with enough supplies to last them several days in order to protest against plans to drill in the Arctic.
Prirazlomnaya is Russia’s first offshore platform in the Arctic and is expected to start production later this year.
