A Greek ferry carrying 282 passengers and crew has been refloated after spending two days aground at the Aegean Sea island of Kasos.
The ro-pax ferry Vitsentzos Kornaros floated free Friday night under its own power, the Hellenic Coast Guard reported. The vessel then headed to the port of Fry located on the island of Kasos where 64 passengers and nine trucks disembarked from the vessel. The ship was expected to undergo an initial inspection before heading on to other ports.
The ferry ran aground Wednesday night as it attempted to moor in heavy weather with 227 passengers and 55 crew.
No injuries or pollution was reported.
