South Korean shipyards Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) and Samsung Heavy announced orders on Monday with a pair of LNG carriers and a semisubmersible respectively.
According to a statement by DSME on their website, Angelicoussis Shipping Group Ltd placed a 469.6 billion Korean won ($411.2 million) order for two, 173,400 cbm liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers. The vessels are due to be delivered by the second half of 2016 and will be operated by Maran Gas Maritime.
Samsung Heavy Industries’ $718 million semisubmersible order comes from Stena, and is due for delivery in the first half of 2016. No further details were given however on the specifics on the rig.
