South Korean shipbuilder Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) announced today the winning of a newbuild order for six, 10,000 TEU containerships from Zodiac Maritime Agencies. The order came in at an aggregate value of KRW 566.7 billion (USD $538 million).
In a statement on their website, DSME notes that the ships will all be delivered by mid-2016 and subsequently placed on long-term charter with Hyundai Merchant Marine. The order includes options for four additional vessels.
With this order, DSME notes that their 2013 target of $13 billion in orders has officially been met.
