The French-flagged Dieppe Seaways passenger ferry suffered a fire in its boiler room today according to a phone call with DFDS spokesperson Gert Jakobsen.
The incident occurred shortly before arriving at the port of Dover, however Jakobsen notes there were no passengers aboard at the time. Crew members responded to the fire and have since contained the blaze. Local fire departments also arrived on scene to support firefighting efforts.
The ship operates on the Calais – Dover route.
DFDS notes the situation and potential injuries to crew members is still being assessed.
