Damen Shiprepair Brest has booked it’s first LNG carrier maintenance and repair job since being switching hands over to Damen Group earlier this year.
LNG SOKOTO
Formerly Sobrena Shiprepair, DSB is located in northern France and is particularly well-known for it’s expertise in LNG carriers. The yard operates three large graving dry docks, pictured above, with the largest measuring 420 meters by 80 meters making it one of the largest of its kind in Europe.
Damen says that the 79,822 DWT LNG SOKOTO will arrive at the yard for maintenance work, including dry docking. The vessel is owned Bonny Gas Transport, who is a repeat customer at the yard.
“We are very pleased with this order and we expect more LNG vessel owners to follow,” says Jos Goris, who took on the role of managing director in mid-july. “The yard’s workforce is experienced in repairing LNG vessels and it is good to see this business returning to Brest”.
