The 90,000-ton MSC Magnifica was in Germany this past weekend for the 825th Hamburg Port Anniversary celebrations and saluted the crowd by playing a horn-rendition of the White Stripes song, Seven Nation Army.
A total of 12 cruise ships visited the port over 3 days of celebrations, making a total of 27 sail-by passages in front of an estimated crowd of 1 million people, but the MSC Magnifica obviously stole the show with this one.
“The presence of twelve different cruise ships honored the largest port festival in the world and gave the event a unique cruise flair”, said Gerd Drossel, managing director Hamburg Cruise Center.
The MSC Magnifica is one of four “Musica-class” ships in MSC Cruise’s fleet, so it shouldn’t be all that surprising to hear that it can belt out some awesome horn music.
So cruise ship captains take note, this is the proper way to perform a sail-by salute.
