Press Release – Today, Alfa Laval and Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller Center for Zero Carbon Shipping announced that they have formalized a strategic collaboration on the development of zero carbon solutions for the maritime industry by signing a Strategic Corporate Partnership Agreement by which Alfa Laval becomes an official partner to the Center.
The collaboration will revolve around the development of low- and zero carbon technologies through joint projects and activities including (but not limited to) the development of systems needed to handle new green fuels or solutions to improve overall energy efficiency. It is expected that some joint activities will be carried out at the Alfa Laval test facilities.

The collaboration is already operational through the recently announced SOFC4Maritime, a project targeting optimal utilization of future green fuels via the application of SOFCs for power production on marine vessels, funded by the EUDP.

In joining the Center, they bring onboard vital experience and knowledge enabling the Center to establish the overall narrative of the transition as well as initiate projects and activities that will accelerate the development of tomorrow’s solution. We truly look forward to the collaboration,” says CEO Bo Cerup-Simonsen in welcoming Alfa Laval as a partner to the Center.

We need a common view of the roadmap for the shipping industry, and we will bring our individual expertise to the table to drive and accelerate the development,” says Sameer Kalra, President of the Marine Division. “One of the latest projects ‘SOFC4Maritime’ (for solid oxide fuel cells) is just one example of activities which we look forward to working on together.”
Alfa Laval will also be joining the Center’s Advisory Board providing strategic and technical guidance to Center activities going forward.
