AdvanFort, a Washington, DC-based maritime security firm announced today they have hired Axel Tuetken, former country president in Tokyo for Maersk Line and Safmarine, as its business development director in Northern Europe.
“Axel Tuetken is largely responsible for the recent optimization of profitability for the Japan branch of Maersk Line and Safmarine, generating more than 1 billion dollars in annual revenue while serving as Maersk’s country President and leading a team of 200 people,” AdvanFort President William H. Watson commented in a statement. “
From Toyko, Tuetken supervised offices in Osaka, Kobe, Yokohama, and Nagoya, as well as a Shimizu joint venture, winning high praise for both increasing productivity and improving morale, while reaching out for the recruitment and development of a line management team that allowed for continuous improvement in a tough global economy.
From his initial position with Maersk as Sales Representative in Bremen and Lower Saxony, Tuetken rose through the ranks by garnering experience in Northern Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, before becoming its branch president in Japan.
