Anti-Piracy Dummies

We have seen a lot of interesting ideas (HERE & HERE) to deter pirates from boarding ships but this one wins the award… we are just not sure what award to give it…

Best Do-It-Yourself idea of the year.
OR
Best example of how boring a long voyage can get.

The idea is that pirates look for easy targets and, by appearing alert and active by posting dummy lookouts, pirates will bypass your vessel and wait for the next target. If enough targets are “hardened” then the pirates will start making mistakes and thus be easier to apprehend.

What do you think?

We will let you decide the best answer to the poll but for more good (and marginal) ideas to improve safety be sure to check out the UK P&I Club’s Idea Blog. Good stuff.
