Taiwan-based container shipping line Yang Ming has signed a contract with South Korea’s Hyundai Heavy Industries for five 15,500 TEU LNG dual fuel container vessels to be delivered in 2026.
The vessels will be equipped with high-pressure LNG dual fuel main engine and ballast water treatment system to meet environmental regulations, and will feature advanced integrated systems for navigational information and operation monitoring.
Yang Ming’s current fleet consists 94 ships with a capacity of approximately 715,000 TEUs, making it the world’s ninth largest liner operator, according to Alphaliner rankings. The company said the vessels will help to optimize its fleet, reduce operating costs, and improve carbon emission reduction, while enhancing competitiveness.
