Fred Olsen Energy subsidiary Dolphin Drilling announced today that their semi-submersible drilling rig, Borgland Dolphin, has been awarded a contract extension from Rig Management Norway AS.

This extension adds another 6 months to the Borgland Dolphin’s original 3 year contract, allowing for 3 additional wells to be drilled on top of the original 15 well contract.

The new estimated contract value is approximately USD $663 million, an $88 million increase over the original contract.

The Borgland Dolphin is Singapore-flagged and was built in 1977 by Harland & Wolff in Belfast, Ireland.  The rig is an Enhanced Aker H-3 – 4th generation Spec w/5th generation Drilling Package.
