We have the sad duty to inform you of the death of a colleague whilst on duty.
Captain Rudi Pape, aged 58, of Elbe Pilots fell from the ladder into the River Elbe whilst boarding a vessel on 20th February 2012. He was quickly retrieved from the water and resuscitated immediately, and handed to the care of the rescue medical team at the berth. Terribly sadly, he lost his fight for life in hospital today, 24th February.
On behalf of IMPA we offer sincere condolences to Captain Pape’s family and colleagues. It is a tragic loss.
