A tugboat that had been reported stolen from the Oyster House pier in East Providence, Rhode Island yesterday was found aground and half-submerged in the Providence River near Sabin Point. East Providence Police and Fire were alerted last night to reports of a potential vessel in distress with at least two people shining flashlights or cell phones.
When authorities boarded the vessel nobody was found, although a sopping wet person later discovered on shore has been identified as a “person of interest.”
The USCG notes in a phone call that the name of the tug is “Theodore” and an attempt to refloat will occur at high tide today.
