Mark Zuckerburg, the founder of Facebook, paid a visit to the Panama Canal today and observed the British-flagged chemical tanker CPO New Zealand as she made her way through the locks.
The 183 meter-long, 52,000 ton deadweight CPO New Zealand is owned by Hamburg-based Offen Tankers.
According to his Facebook page, he was allowed in to the Canal’s control room where he was permitted to open the locks to allow one of the vessels to sail through.

Zuckerburg was attending a meeting in Panama City where he announced plans to bring Internet.org to Panama over the coming weeks and months. Internet.org is an initiative that is currently providing basic free Internet services to a handful of African nations, parts of India, Colombia and Guatemala.
