UAE rig builder Lamprell says they have completed construction on the LeTourneau Super 116E (Enhanced) Class-design jack-up rig Jindal Pioneer. The shipyard notes this is their 12th such rig built for various clients over the past seven years, and their second such rig for Dev Drilling Pte Ltd of Singapore, a D. P. Jindal Group Company.
Lamprell has seven more jackups under construction at their Hamriyah yard and steel will soon be cut for two more rigs recently ordered.
Additional newbuild orders appear to be likely from Dev Drilling Pte Ltd as well. Dev Drilling Managing Director Raghav Jindal notes, “We are confident that she will earn many laurels for the group in the coming decades and look forward to strengthening our relationship with Lamprell over the coming years with more advanced and versatile rig designs.”
The first rig, Jindal Star sailed away from Lamprell’s Hamriyah facility in Q4 2013 and is currently deployed in the Bombay high oilfield, run by India’s Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), offshore India.
