The U.S. Coast Guard reports there was a collision today in the Houston Ship Channel between lights 39 and 40 involving the Hamburg Süd-owned containership Monte Alegre and the chemical tanker Chembulk Houston.
AIS data from MarineTraffic show the incident occurred at approximately 1:37PM local time. The Chembulk Houston was sailing on course 340 at 9 knots and the Monte Alegre was on course 332 at 9.3 knots just before the collision.
There was no pollution or injuries as a result of the incident and that both vessels are heading into the port for further inspection.
