The sustainable shipping watchdog website ShippingEfficiency.org will be hosting its second webinar tomorrow, March 17. The webinar aims to educate participants on ship efficiency indexing and rating while guiding them through the ShippingEfficiency.org website. It will be led by Peter Boyd, COO of Carbon War Room and Dr. Elena Craft, Air Quality Specialist for the US Environmental Defense Fund.
Craft, who is keen on promoting adoption of measures to reduce air pollution, has a Ph.D. in toxicology from Duke University’s Nicholas School of the Environment and Earth and Ocean Science and is a Fellow at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences. The webinar will end with a Q&A system with both Dr. Craft and Peter Boyd.
The webinar will be held at 3:00 p.m. (GMT) / 11:00 a.m. (EDT) 17th March 2011, and you can register HERE.
ShippingEfficiency.org is an initiative launched by the Carbon War Room and industry-leading partners to increase information flows around international shipping’s energy efficiency and ultimately help reduce the environmental impacts of the world’s shipping fleet.
The site assesses and provides energy efficiency ratings energy efficiency for over 60,000 international vessels based on the United Nations’ IMO’s Energy Efficiency design Index (EEDI). A separate search tool provides ratings which we have based on Clean Cargo Working Group data provided independently by Maersk Line. CCWG is an independent group of shippers and carriers not associated with Carbon War Room, facilitated by BSR, aimed at improving environmental performance in global ocean container transport.
