SSV Oliver Hazard Perry set sail on her maiden voyage Thursday from Portsmouth, Rhode Island to Portland, Maine to attend the Tall Ships Portland festival this weekend.
At 200-feet, the three-masted Oliver Hazard Perry is the largest civilian-owned sailing school vessel in the US. and the first full-rigged ocean-going tall ship to be built in the U.S. in over 100 years.

Final construction of the SSV Oliver Hazard Perry was only recently completed at the Senesco Marine shipyard near Providence, RI.
The vessel is considered the Rhode Island’s Official Sailing Education Vessel and is owned and operated by Oliver Hazard Perry Rhode Island (OHPRI).
