On Memorial Day 2012, Maine Maritime’s TS State of Maine (USNS Tanner), and California Maritime’s, TS Golden Bear (USNS Maury) , rendezvoused for a quick photo op and meeting while on their summer training cruises SW of Haiti.
To the best of anyone’s knowledge, this is the first time the two sisters have met since at the shipyard in Maryland’s Sparrows Point Shipyard back in 1989 or 1990.
Captain Les Eadie (State of Maine) and Captain Harry Bolton (Golden Bear) arranged the meeting after realizing they would be in the Caribbean together on their cruises.
Additional photos of the meeting can be found on CMA’s voyage blog, HERE.
