Cameras rolled as the Danish train ferry MF Aerosund II (aka Ærøsund) was intentionally sunk this weekend off the coast of Svendborg, Denmark.
The 55-meter MF Aerosund II has a long history dating back to 1960 and was originally used to transport railway cars to and from Svendborg.
The ferry will now serve as an artificial reef and dive site at the South Funen Archipelago, expecting to draw tourists from across Europe and the globe.
The project to scuttle the ship has been considered one of Denmark’s largest tourist-related projects, one that has been met with much opposition over its environmental impacts.
