The number of vessels arriving at the Port of Rotterdam has increased for the first time since 2007.

According to the Port of Rotterdam Authority, 29,122 sea-going vessels arrived in 2015, compared to 29,014 vessels in 2014.

This represents a significant increase from 37,097 vessels, which called at the port in 2007.

In addition, the number of significant accidents at the port decreased the past year from twelve to seven, three of which involved leisure vessels.

This official announcement was made by Harbour Master René de Vries at a presentation on the port’s annual nautical figures at World Port Center. Other topics that were addressed during the meeting included water pollution, port security, security of the terminals, the refugee issue and sailing speed.
