Remnants of the Sandy Hook Pilot Station [UPDATED]
Like pretty much everything else on the New Jersey shore, the Sandy Hook Pilot Station was hit quite hard by hurricane Sandy. In fact, the first floor of their building was pretty much taken out.*
There are a bunch of rumors floating around suggesting sheer destruction at the oil terminals, but that does not seem to be the case. What we’re hearing right now is that oil product tankers are being lightered on to barges while the shore based terminals are brought back to life. No solid progress reports have been made on the restart of these terminals, but the word on the street says it may not be until this weekend or Monday.
We will report the facts whenever we receive them. If you have more information or photos depicting the physical status of the Port of New York and New Jersey, please free to email us at [email protected].
*we initially reported the Pilots Station was a completely wiped out, however it appears only the first floor was damaged.
