Pirates have kidnapped four crew from an Indonesian tug and barge in international waters between Malaysia and the Philippines, the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed.
The incident occurred Friday evening at about 6:30 p.m. local time as the vessels were underway from Cebu, Philippines to Tarakan in northern Borneo.
The ship had 10 crew total, of which four were kidnapped and one crew member was shot, the ministry said.
The vessels were brought by the Malaysian Maritime Police to the Port Lahat Datu, Malaysia.
The victim who was shot is in stable condition.
