A 190-meter bulk carrier is hard aground in Klaipeda, Lithuania after dragging anchor in strong winds.
The vessel, the Cyprus-flagged MV Ocean Crown, was bound for Klaipeda but was prevented from entering port due to weather and forced to drop anchor. Unfortunately, the anchors proved no match for the strong winds and the vessel grounded early Sunday morning. Some reports indicate the vessel may have lost propulsion prior to grounding.
The crew remains on board the vessel as the owners work on a salvage plan.
So far no pollution has been reported.
