New photos and video from the French Navy shows the emergency towing vessel Abeille Bourbon underway in heavy seas off Brittany, France. These photos were taken January 12th in the Raz de Sein, a passage at the northern tip of the Bay of Biscay that is notorious for its violent seas and strong currents.
The 80-meter, 200t bollard pull Abeille Bourbon is a multi-purpose salvage and stand-by safety vessel equipped for emergency towing, salvage and fire fighting. The ship, based in Brest, France, is owned by French shipowner Groupe Bourbon and on long-term charter to the French Navy (Marine Nationale).
