Turkey in Talks With Iran for Ships’ Passage Through Hormuz
Turkey is seeking permission from Iranian authorities for 11 Turkish-owned ships to pass through the Strait of Hormuz, the country’s transportation minister said on Wednesday.
One crewmember was injured after a fire broke out Thursday aboard the Turkish-flagged product tanker, Yakamoz-5, while anchored near Istanbul.
The tanker was at Yenikapi anchorage when the fire broke out Thursday just before noon. Six crewmembers were evacuated from the ship, including one with non life-threatening injuries.
The fire was brought under control with the help of two firefighting tugs and there have been no reports of pollution to the environment.
The Yakamoz-5 was carrying approximately 400 tons of fuel when the fire occurred, according to media reports.
