Since passing under bridges is basically a prerequisite when it comes to a life at sea, it is no wonder why most mariners are utterly fascinated by -and possibly a bit fearful of- them. The new $6.8 billion eastern span of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge, which just opened this week following years of construction, is no different.
