As if solo circumnavigating the earth via the equator, a 27 month solo trek along the arctic circle, or hiking to the north pole in the dead of winter wasn’t enough adventure, legendary explorer Mike Horn has announced another daring trip around the world, this time via the prime meridian and international date line.
In his interview with Huff Post Live, he provides a fascinating look at a life of remote exploration and an overview of his next trip.
Oh, by the way, he’s first going to climb Makalu – the world’s fifth tallest mountain – alpine style and without supplemental oxygen.
I met Mike in Annapolis a few years ago and he gave me a tour of his 105 foot aluminum expedition-type sailing yacht Pangaea which he himself built in Argentina along with a virtual army of local Argentinians.
An utterly fascinating individual.
