McDermott International has announced the successful installation this week of the P-61 Tension Leg Wellhead Platform (TLWP) for the PPT BV Joint Venture, consisting of Petrobras and Chevron. Once fully commissioned and operational this platform will be the first to use dry-tree floating technology offshore Brazil and the first Tension Leg Platform installation offshore South America.
The TLP’s hull was designed by Floatec Singapore and built in Brazil by Keppel’s BrasFELS yard. Fabrication of the piles and tendons was handled by McDermott.
Commissioning of the platform is ongoing and is under the direction of the FloaTEC project team.
McDermott utilized their recently upgraded deepwater construction vessel, Derrick Barge 50 (DB 50) to install the tendons.
