Italian news company Corriere reported today a boat carrying Libyan migrants capsized in the Mediterranean Sea on Saturday while enroute to Lampedusa, an island approximately half way between Tunisia and Sicily. Italian government and coast guard vessels responded and recovered seventy survivors after the report of the emergency was received by Italian authorities in Palermo.
10 migrants are known to have perished.
