The following speech was given by Kristina Gjerde in April 2010. She is an expert in the field of marine conservation law and a policy advisor for the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).
The purpose of this presentation is to highlight an ongoing effort to promote international awareness and informed policy-making that will help to protect this significant world natural resource.
