Intermarine is pleased to announce that they have opened a new office in Sao Paulo, Brazil, on January 1, 2012, to oversee all commercial activity in Brazil and the Mercosur Region. The regional hub will be managed by Carlos Morino, the Director of East Coast South America, with the support of Christian Ortiz and Ana de Cantos.

In making the announcement Eric Alber, Intermarine’s Vice President for ECSA, stated, “This direct presence in Brazil will enhance our ability to directly serve our clients and, more importantly, to better understand their individual needs. We are a solutions based company, and the closer our relationship with the clients, the faster we can create value added results for them.”

Intermarine services have operated to and from the East Coast of South America for nearly 20 years with service to North America and, more recently, Europe. Mr. Alber continued, “Brazil, in particular, is emerging as one of the world’s leading economic engines and we need to strengthen our foothold in this economically strategic region. With Intermarine personnel on the ground in Brazil we expect to increase our sailing frequency from Brazil to a weekly service in 2012 through organic growth and better service to the trade.”

Carlos Morino is a lifelong veteran of the South American shipping industry and has been Intermarine’s Owners Representative in Brazil and Argentina for the past five years.  Following  Mr. Alber’s remarks he added, “We are extremely proud to frame the famous Intermarine blue with the green and yellow of Brazil. We are here at the right place and the right time to provide a clear signal to the market that our company is completely committed to support our clients needs in this region Our experience and record of success has made Intermarine a major player in the project and break-bulk markets. We value the strong confidence our clients have placed in us, and this new office will substantially strengthen our ability to serve the thriving oil & gas, energy and mining markets.  We look forward to bringing responsive and innovative solutions to market, and providing ever expanding services to North America and Europe. ”
