The highlight of the festival included six tall ships – l’Hermione, a French replica of the 145′ long Concorde class frigate of the French Navy; the Lynx, a privateer inspired by the original War of 1812 tall ship The Privateer Lynx; the AJ Meerwald, New Jersey’s official tall ship; the Picton Castle, a 179′, 284-ton, three-master barque based in Nova Scotia; the Sagres, built in 1937 at the Blohn & Voss shipyard in Hamburg; and the Kalmar Nyckel, a replica of its namesake that served as Governor Peter Minuit’s flagship for the 1638 expedition that founded the colony of New Sweden.
