Helix ESG’s light well intervention/dive support vessel MSV Seawell will be back up on blocks next month at Damen Shiprepair Vlissingen for a major upgrade. The ship had been drydocked and repairs conducted at the same facility back in 2012.
Damen notes the upgrade will be extensive and includes an exchange of all 6 gensets including new foundations, overhaul of all thrusters and azimuths, replacement of 2 cherry pickers and the existing twin slewing cranes by a new single boom 50T crane with active heave compensation. All switchboards will be renewed as well. Additionally, the existing derrick will be demolished and replaced with a new one, plus all associated equipment.
Helix ESG notes in a statement the vessel will return to supporting clients in the North Sea following the upgrade.
