Independence
Our editorial content is independent of our advertising and business relationships. Advertisers do not influence our coverage. Sponsored content is clearly labeled and separated from news reporting.
Sourcing
Primary Sources: We prioritize primary sources including official documents, regulatory filings, court records, company statements, and on-the-record interviews.
Anonymous Sources: We use anonymous sources sparingly and only when the information is newsworthy, cannot be obtained on the record, and the source has direct knowledge of the matter. Anonymous sources must be known to our journalists.
Attribution: We attribute information to its source. When reporting on other outlets’ original reporting, we credit them and link to their work.
Verification
Before publication, we verify claims through:
- Multiple independent sources for significant claims
- Official records and documents where available
- Direct confirmation from parties involved
- Subject matter expertise from our editorial team
Our editorial team includes licensed mariners and maritime industry veterans who can evaluate technical claims.
Corrections

Conflicts of Interest
Writers and editors disclose potential conflicts of interest to their editors. We do not cover companies or topics where a staff member has a material financial interest without disclosure.
Press Releases
We publish selected press releases that are newsworthy to our audience. Press releases are labeled as such and may be edited for length and clarity. We do not guarantee publication of any press release.

User social comments and forum posts do not represent the views of gCaptain. We moderate comments to remove spam, abuse, and content that violates our community guidelines.
