Transocean’s Development Driller II (DD2) is having its derrick removed at Fincantieri shipyard in Palermo, Italy in preparation for its mobilization to the Black Sea. Due to the two suspension bridges that cross the Bosphorus Strait, the derrick will be completely disassembled and then reassembled once through the strait.
As the above photo shows, the top section of the derrick has been de-attached and skidded over to a jack-up scaffolding structure where it will be subsequently offloaded.
