The 38,278 deadweight ton, Hong Kong flagged bulk carrier Octbreeze Island was impaled by the Italian-flagged 40,165-deadweight tanker Ghetty Bottiglieri on Saturday, December 13 while navigating in the Paraná River.
The incident occurred at 1740 local time at kilometer 285 off San Pedro, Argentina and oil was spilled into the river according to local authorities. Containment booms have been installed around the Octbreeze Island.
