The Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization reports that a containership owned by Thailand Taiwan-headquartered Wan Hai Lines has called on the port of Shahid Rajayee in Bandar Abbas after sanctions on the southern Iranian port were lifted on 15 July.
The vessel was the Wan Hai 512, a 4,680 TEU vessel which had originated in Singapore, then called on Jebel Ali before arriving in Shahid Rajayee.
According to a report by FARS News Agency, Ali Jahandide, Deputy Head of Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization says that three additional non-Iranian shipping lines are due to arrive in the port soon as well, which he hopes will pave the way for more foreign shipping lines to boost their Iranian operations.
“We have communicated with the world countries through the Iranian foreign ministry and the country’s embassies abroad to pave the way for increased presence of shipping lines in Shahid Rajayee port,” Jahandideh said.
