Rescuers are lossing hope for some 250 passangers of a Indonesian ferry that sank in high seas off the cost of central Indonesia early yesterday morning. Around 20 passages of the ferry were found alive on the small islands in the area and another 18 people, including the ferry’s captain, were rescued by local fishermen soon after the incedent.
A 700 ton ferry capsized in Indonesia after it was smashed by waves this weekend, leaving about 250 people still missing and rescue efforts hampered because of bad weather. The meteorology agency had warned of bad weather in the area but Djamal said that port authorities had given the ferry the go-ahead to leave and conditions were clear when it left. welt.de/english-news
